Sport and Exercise Psychology

After sustaining a number of injuries throughout his youth sport experience in Rugby, Guy developed an interest in psychology within sport and the important role that it plays in injury rehabilitation. Following discussions with friend and mentor, an Australian sportsman and coach who has had a hand in shaping some of Australia's finest sportsmen; Guy was inspired to pursue a career in applied sports psychology.

Since completing his Masters degree in Psychology of Sport and Exercise at Loughborough University, Guy has been working with individuals and teams within all sports through interactive workshops, presentations and one-to-one consultations. His approach to sport and exercise psychology is rooted in cognitive-behavioural and humanistic approaches; recognising the importance that thoughts and emotions have on individuals' performance whilst ensuring that they are fully involved and at the centre of the developmental process.

Guy works with performers from a variety of ages and abilities within a number of sports including canoeing, rugby, football, swimming and running as well as with individuals seeking to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. He maintains a research interest and has successfully translated his findings back into the field of applied sport psychology, helping develop sport psychology programmes within elite junior canoeing. Also, he is involved in working groups with sport psychologists across Europe to better understand and implement ethical practice in sport psychology.
